Fisheries deptt distributes refrigerated vans

Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) handed two Refrigerated Vans to the beneficiaries- Youth Net and Puhonol Thapo, at a short handing programme presided by scheme-in-charge Neitho-o Kuotsu at the directorate premises on December 3.

According to DIPR, Thapo in his address, stressed on the importance of fish preservation and quality control since fish being a high perishable commodity. Director of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Kevisa Kense in his brief address highlighted the importance and need to encourage more entrepreneurs to take up fishery related activities and also develop more post harvest infrastructure facilities, which would facilitate and promote marketing of locally produced table fish. 
Addl. director, Rongsennungba hoped that the beneficiaries would make optimum use of the facility by engaging in collection, procuring and selling of locally produced fish and fishery products and thereby making it available to the local consumers in a good and hygienic condition. YouthNet, on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the department for taking up a noble venture in supporting the entrepreneurs in the State.
