A separate routine checking of food business establishments and shops were carried out at Wokha and Aboi towns.

Wokha: In Wokha, food safety team, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office Wokha conducted routine monitoring visit on October 16. During the visit, licenses of shops were checked and shopkeepers were informed to apply or renew their license at CMO Office Wokha.

Numerous expired food items were seized and duly discarded after completion of FSSAI formalities.

The team led by FSO Wokha Pelerieno Kehie, sensitized shopkeepers on the importance of FSSAI license, ensuring sale of safe and healthy food in their shops.

The shopkeepers were advised against stocking of misbranded and expired products which is punishable under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and FSS Regulations, 2011 of FSSAI. 

Aboi: A team comprising of the administration, police, Aboi Town Students Union and Food Safety Officer inspected food establishments on October 17 at Aboi Town. 

The drive was carried out to create awareness and to discourage food establishments from selling expired, misbranded food products, loose edible oil etc. They were also asked to maintain hygienic environment.
