Additional chief secretary and head of Forest Force and principal chief conservator of forest Lhoubeilatuo Kire has directed issuing of notices to three plywood units for recovery of double royalty of all excess timber as per Nagaland Tree Felling Regulation, 2017.

He also directed that in case of unsatisfactory replies to the notices, action for suspension or revocation of licences should be initiated, while instructing forest officials to make a roster for inspection of all high powered committee (HPC)-cleared units and non-HPC units within the next few days.

The move followed checking of plywood units in Chümoukedima range of Dimapur by a team of forest officials led by Kire as a follow-up to the recent haul of four trucks carrying illegal teak wood and five trucks carrying plywood veneer.

During checking of records and physical verification of stock of raw materials, anomalies were found in Changki Valley Forest Products, Tenyiphe, M/s Angami Ply, Tenyiphe, and Akash Wood Products, 7th Mile.

Kire took strict cognizance of the anomalies and issued the directive.

The team also included conservator of forest (STC) Dr Kenei Miachieo, Dimapur range officer Jongpong Walling, Chumukedima range officer Imkongsunep and 18 other forest staff.
