Forest deptt, Police put up signages in Kohima

Kohima Forest division and Kohima Police collaborated in an innovative awareness project, where Forest and Police signages were kept at 40 strategic locations in Kohima city. 
A press release by divisional forest office Kohima stated that, the campaign was initiated by superintendent of Police, Kohima, Manoj Kumar A and divisional forest officer, Kohima, Rajkumar M.  
DFO, Kohima in his speech stated that, the content of these innovative signages was mainly to target the pedestrians and to grab the attention of the viewers. The main purpose of this project was to create environmental awareness among the people and during the process of making these signages, many people from different walks of life contributed their creative ideas in the social media. He further stated that in the coming months, it would be displayed digitally at strategic locations to create awareness among the people residing in Kohima. 
SP, Kohima cited that the project aims to streamline traffic in the city and instill traffic discipline among the masses. He also informed that views and suggestions of the community were sought for this project as part of community policing. Apart from other signages, Kohima Police has also identified accident prone areas in the city and appropriate signages will be put up in the identified locations to ensure better road safety.
Both officers thanked Manom Wallin, DSP, Traffic, Kohima and Dr. Sevono Seletsu, assistant conservator of Forest, Kohima for excellent team work in making the collaboration a success.
