Former Minister in the UPA Government V Kishore Chandra Deo on Sunday resigned from the primary membership of the Congress citing lack of responsiveness from party leadership and complete organisational paralysis in the Andhra Pradesh Congress.

Deo wrote to Congress President Rahul Gandhi saying he would no longer be able to work for the party.

Speaking to The Tribune Deo said the Congress leadership was unresponsive to his communications over many months and he felt like he had hit a wall.

Deo also said the Congress was in a paralytic condition in Andhra Pradesh and it was almost as if the party was in a coma.

“The Congress is extinct in Andhra Pradesh. It has gone down the hill. Party is in coma in Andhra Pradesh and there’s nothing that is being done or can be done to revive it,” said Deo, who headed the important Lok Sabha Committee on Privileges and Ethics in the UPA Government.

Deo was also chairman of the Congress Tribal cell having served as Minister of Tribal affairs under the erstwhile Congress-led regime.

Deo said he wasn’t quitting politics and was only quitting the Congress, adding that his attempts to engage Rahul on affairs related to Andhra had failed.

“Four people take decisions in the Congress and there’s no space for anyone else’s opinion,” said Deo in a caustic exit pitch ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Deo said he would soon disclose his future plans.
