Four persons were injured when the truck they were travelling lost control and hit trees on the roadside at Nagaland Secretariat, here Tuesday.

According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred at around 4:40 a.m. when the truck, bearing a Rajasthan registration number, heading towards Thizama, lost control due to suspected brake failure and hit trees alongside the road.

Four out of the five passengers were injured with two in critical condition while one miraculously escaped unharmed.

The injured occupants were rushed to Naga hospital where they were being treated.

A zonal taxi driver residing in vicinity of the accident, while heading out for his daily work, came across the injured and helped transfer two of the injured.

The other two injured persons who were stucked in the truck were rescued by personnel of 11 IR C Coy stationed at Secretariat area.

The jawans reportedly used crowbars and ropes as levers and pulleys to break open the stuck occupants.

According to eye witness accounts the two who were stucked in the remnants of the truck would have died had it not for the timely assistance by the jawans.

Both the front tires of the truck were dismounted while the front part was totally mangled. Concerned authorities in the case could not be contacted even after repeated attempts.
