Government Higher Secondary School Tseminyu, Chandmari Higher Secondary School and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School reached the last 16 of the ongoing 3rd Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament after winning their respective matches at IG Stadium, Kohima on Monday. 

The three week long tournament is being jointly organised by Royal Club Kohima, Department of School Education and Youth Resources & Sports.

In the first match, Government Higher Secondary School Tseminyu overpowered Sacred Heart School, Khuzama by a solitary goal.  The lone goal came through the boots of Benlo Kent in the 16th minute. 

GHSS Tseminyu will now clash with St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Viswema in the pre-quarterfinal match on July 5. 

In the second match, Pezangulie’s hat-trick helped Chandmari Higher Secondary School thrash Model Higher Secondary School 5-0. He became the third hat-trick scorer of the tournament and his goals came in the 8th, 47th and 55th minute. 

Menuophretuo (21st) and Lhouvituo Kezie-o (45th) added a goal each for Chandmari HSS.  

Meanwhile, in a six goal thriller, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School overcame Government High School, Sechü Zubza 5-4 vie tie-breaker after the match ended in a 3-3 draw.  

Zubza team failed to defend a three goal lead in the first half as they conceded three goals in the second half. 

In the first half, Government High School, Sechü Zubza scored through Keneikolie Rino (17th) and two goals from Rüngulie Zhünyü in 20th minute and 32nd minute. 

The goals for Don Bosco Higher Secondary School were scored by Ruokuovilhou (34th), Khriesizo Yase (52nd) and Machunthai Kamei (58th). Despite playing extra time of 15 minutes, both teams failed to break the deadlock and the match was decided by tie-breaker wherein Don Bosco HSS emerged victorious.
