Good roads finally !! And yes in Nagaland

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 4/11/2019 1:27:53 PM IST

For the past few years Nagaland had been undergoing one of the roughest phase with unstable government, change of leaderships, horse trading of legislators, the protests for women reservation, no scholarship etc. This rough phase has kept the citizens busy and made us forget to demand even our basic rights, one being “good quality roads”. After the 2018 general election in Nagaland, I am sure the general public is relived that ‘the government’ is at least functioning and with a strong opposition at last.

The ‘lipsticking’ of roads and wearing and peeling up of road surfaces have almost become a common sight in Nagaland with videos and pictures of poor workmanship going viral all over the internet. Will the roads in Nagaland ever, even last a season? Is what keeps me wondering. The tenders floated by the department of PWD (R&B) for the improvement of roads within Dimapur and Kohima, come as a ‘sigh of relief’ for the public. The result can be seen in and around both districts with repair works being undertaken at various places.

I was drawn to a facebook post in one of the groups “The Naga Mirror” appreciating the quality of work done between ‘City Tower Road to DC court Junction’ which drew me to further read the comments to find out that the work was being undertaken by M/s. Multibuilders. The name somehow seemed familiar and upon further introspection, I was reminded of a news article in Nagaland Post about Good and Bad Roads in Nagaland (The department appreciating the quality works of Multi Builders) . Plying between the stretches of the road and seeing with my own eyes I could say now that we have quality roads. Passing by The city tower area, Holy Cross-Dhobinallah, Tragopan area, made me feel, I have just crossed the border to the other side of our state, how you feel a sudden shift in the riding quality. It is a ‘remarkable job’ well done.

Whoever the contractor is, I really would like to appreciate the quality of work being done.  May God bless you and may you inspire other contractors to carry out such works.I feel that the department and the public should encourage and appreciate such works even in days to come.Besides the contractor not forgetting the efforts put together by the officers in the Department. Please continue to shoulder responsibility and ensure that the quality of work is not compromised. Also not forgetting minister PWD (R&B) for taking up the initiative on top priority and ensuring that your 60 days assurance to repair all district Hqs road is well kept.(although the deadline is over)

It is a humble request to the department and the lawmakers that no matter which government is ruling and in power please ensure that works are allotted to proper experienced and qualified contractors. This will automatically bring good name to the department and the government too and also keep the citizens contended and not regret the leaders we elect.
