Gorkhas celebrate 205th Bhanu Jayanti in Dimapur, Kohima

The 205th Bhanu Jayanti organised by the Gorkha Students Union, Public College of Commerce (GSU PCC), Dimapur was celebrated Saturday, at Namghar Hall, Dimapur with NDPP Nagaland vice president Tokheli Kikon, as chief guest. 

At the programme, chief guest in her speech encouraged the student community to remember the great work of universal poet Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, who translated the Ramayana into Nepali language and wrote many poems and introduced the Nepali language which the entire Gorkha/Nepali people were speaking today. 
She maintained that Bhanu Bhakta Acharya was a great teacher and a scholar and every Gorkha/Nepali people must be proud of his great achievements. 
She also said that Gorkha were peace loving people and she considered the Gorkhas of Nagaland as her brothers and sisters because of their loyalty. 
Other speakers included Dipak Lama, former chairman, Disciplinary Action Committee, DGU who emphasized upon the unity of the Gorkha students community and appealed the entire Gorkha students to be united and revive the All Nagaland Gorkha Students Union (ANGSU). 
He asserted to keep the students union pure and clean and be careful of some vested interest trying to divide the student community by playing dirty politics. 
He told the gathering that, the students were the treasure and backbone of the nation, therefore, the first priority should be education and studies. 
At the programme, welcome address was delivered by GSU PCC president Parjal Poudel and later vote of thanks was proposed GSU PCC general secretary Praveen Rai.
Meanwhile, Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) organised a ten-day library hours, activities-cum-hands on computer at the community library, GPPK complex Chandmari Kohima from July 2 to 12. 
A press release from GPPK press and publicity secretary, Anup Rana stated that, programme was organised during summer vacation of schools to inculcate reading habit, involve children in activities and to improve knowledge of computers by handling the same. 
Valedictory programme was held on July 12 at GPPK hall Chandmari with Dilrupa Rai and Dr. Shanta Gurung as chief speaker and speaker respectively. 
Governor P.B. Acharya’s Award to 6 students who have performed best were awarded during 205th Bhanu Bhakta Acharya’s birth anniversary on July 13 at the same venue.
