Governor condoles demise Tandon, Chatterjee and Naipaul

Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya has expressed shock and grief over the demise of Chhattisgarh Governor, Balram Das Tandon who passed away on August 14, 2018 veteran politician and former Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee and writer and Nobel Prize winner for Literature, Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul.

In his condolence message, Acharya stated that late Balram Das Tandon was a close friend and was associated with him for the last 40 years. 

He said that late Tandon’s contributions as a public leader in various positions for the welfare of the people of the country, particularly for the State of Punjab will be ever remembered. 

Late Tandon attracted the attention of all with his understanding of public issues, earnest social work, administrative ability and wide knowledge, Acharya added. 

He also said that late Tandon’s tenure as Governor of Chhattisgarh was marked by efficiency and dedication. 

Acharya conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

In a condolence message, Acharya described late Somnath Chatterjee as a distinguished Parliamentarian and veteran politician who firmly stood by the principles he believed in. “His demise is an irreparable loss to the country,” Acharya stated.  

Acharya also offered condolences to the family of writer and Nobel Prize winner for Literature, Vidiadhar Surajprasad Naipaul. 

Acharya said the demise of V.S. Naipaul was a great loss to the literature world, and will be remembered as a writer who enthralled and influenced the world with his keen observation, creative and often critical description. 

The Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to all members of the bereaved families and prayed to the Almighty to grant strength and solace to overcome the grief.
