Govt shut down Mother’s Hope

State government has shut down Mother’s Hope (Specialized Adoption Agency) 7th mile Model village, Dimapur for repeated default and failure to adhere to the instruction and direction of the State government and Child Protection Services and JJ Act 2015. 

In a notification, secretary Department of Social Welfare said that license granted to Mother’s Hope to run as specialized adoption agency has also been revoked. 
The secretary pointed out that the decision to shut down the home was based on the adverse findings of the officials Ministry of Women and Child Development, inspection team from the Central Government, and the National Advisory Committee, State Inspection Committee, the Joint Action Committee regarding the functioning of the Specialized Adoption Agency and non-compliance of instructions issued from time to time by the State Government. 
The secretary said that Mother’s Hope had been given enough time and consideration since 2015 to rectify their shortcomings and adhere to the rules and regulations, but repeatedly failed to respond and comply with the notices issued. In view of the above, the department stated that any adoption carried out from Mother’s Hope will be treated as illegal with immediate effect.
