A press release from the Green Team stated that, during the first day drive out of the 22 days initiative, volunteers’ collected garbage, where more than 90% of thrash were alcohol bottles and mineral bottles. The free volunteer community service aimed at making Kohima a step cleaner. It informed that Green Team has been taking up initiative to clean Kohima town through awareness and sensitization campaigns for over a year now. Through this initiative, the team wants to engage citizens for a cleaner Kohima.

For this initiative, the team will be collaborating with different colleges around Kohima, church youth bodies and different organisations.

Green Team appealed the public to take back their thrash and refrain from littering such areas which could lead to a man-made environmental disaster. The team said that such irresponsible disposals of thrash by the people who hang around in that specific area were destroying nature by such reckless behaviour.
