H&FW dept geared up to tackle JE

With one death due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Dimapur and nine positive cases reported in the state, the Health department stated that district surveillance units have been put on high alert and closely monitoring the situation and that all preventive measures were being taken. 
Talking to Nagaland Post, SNO (IDSP) Dr. Nyan Kikon awareness drives, fogging to eliminate vectors (mosquito), community participation through National Vector Borne Disease Control programme and active surveillance through Integrated Disease Control Programme were being carried out with focus on the districts bordering Assam. 
He said district surveillance units have been maintaining vigil for symptoms suggestive of JE across the state, adding the Health & Family Welfare department was geared up for any eventuality.
