Advisor of Prison, Printing & Stationery, Haiying Khiamnungan, reaffirming the PDA government’s commitment said the government was committed to equal development of all regions of the state.

Haiying was speaking to NGO’s and district administration of Longleng district during his visit to the under-construction district jail in Longleng on Friday.

He said that the state government had been initiating different work programs and activities right after the formation of the PDA government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, so that people of the state would see development and prosperity which, he said, the previous government had never bothered with.

He also lamented and blamed the previous government saying that none of the projects which were under taken were completed. They were found to have been halted half way without much benefit to the public.

The best example he said was the District Jail Longleng construction which was abandoned half way without any concrete reasons eight years back. Maintaining that the PDA government stood for “Changes” the advisor assured the people of district that the abandoned work would be revived and the work resumed within a month to be completed on time so that the people of Longleng district would not have to go through the trouble of taking convicts to Mokokchung for trial.

Haiying urged the people of the district to be positive and vigilant to make sure that developmental activities in the district were carried out effectively without any hindrance from any corner.

He also urged the general public to extend their cooperation and support the government in implementing developmental activities in any part of the state.

During the meeting, Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) and Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) put up various issues pertaining to development of the district where the advisor assured them of all possible help and promised to take the matter up with concerned departments at higher levels. He was accompanied by a host of party leaders and departmental officers from Kohima.

Haiying also visited District Jail Wokha on August 2 and interacted with officials of the jail.
