HASSU appeals on illegal immigrants

Highway Area Sumi Students’ Union (HASSU) has appealed to the government to be strict towards illegal immigrants as they have done more damage “politically, socially and economically, beyond the limitations of compromise, to the naga nations.”

A press release from HASSU president, Abovi Awomi and general secretary, Mughaka Chishi stated that in the absence of a strong political will, illegal immigrants would continue and yet the government had chosen to ignore illegal immigrants for several years. HASSU stated that the day was not far when the immigrants would reduce the Nagas to a minority in “our own land and change our demography”. HASSU therefore fervently appealed to the government to seriously look into the immigrant issue and to identify and deport illegal immigrants so that the future generation could live liberally without any fear or threat to their existence.
