HC resumes limited functioning of court

In view of the nationwide lockdown extension and direction of the principal seat, Gauhati High Court, the limited court functioning of Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench resumed on April 20. Deputy registrar (judicial) EL Watty, systems officer Francis Sote and programmer Arnento Asumi have been appointed nodal officers for the purpose.

Further, GHC Kohima Bench, registrar Neiko Akami in a notification stated that email id- has been created for the purpose of sending and receiving requests for urgent hearing of matters. “The learned counsels are required to give intimation to the Computer Cell, 3 working days prior to the proposed hearing to anyone of the Nodal Officers,” it added. 

Cases are to be filed in the manner as already in vogue. The index of each case is required to clearly give the nature of document, page number etc; petition is required to be sequentially page numbered.

The counsels have also been asked to “submit cogent reasons for such urgent listing of matters via e-mail in the format Annexure I and the same shall be placed before the concerned Honourable Judge holding a particular roster on a given date.” If the honourable judge is of the view that the matter is of urgent nature, the same shall be listed before the court as per the process mentioned.

The district courts have also been directed to make necessary arrangements of video conferencing facility for taking up urgent matters.

The cases are being taken up through video conference facility wherein mention of causelist is convened from 10:30 am onwards. Altogether five cases were listed on Wednesday.
