Health Mela conducted at Salomi village

District Health Society (DHS) Kiphire, under the aegis of directorate of Health & Family Welfare (NHM) Nagaland, organized a health mela at Salomi village on April 13.

A press release from CMO office, district media officer Atsali Thongtsar stated that the community was mobilized through Churches, VHCs, village council, and ASHAs, one week ahead of the health mela.

In the mela, a total of 324 OPD cases were registered, and 130 blood smears were examined and 10 sputum tests were collected. None of the samples returned positive for examined diseases. A total of 58 patients were registered for eye screening, out of which four cataract and 30 refractive errors and seven cases with allergic conjunctives and one patient with VIT deficiency cases, were detected. A total of 85 dental extractions and root stump were conducted. Screening of diabetes, hypertension and other routine immunization, ANC/ PNC were also carried out.

DMO and BEE conducted IPC sessions on various RCH programs through focus group discussions and one to one communication.

Posters were pasted on the community hall and public places and IEC materials were distributed both in the local dialect and English.

The program was chaired by Limawati DPM; a welcome address was said by deputy CMO Dr. Tinurenla Anichari; and the invocation was said by Rev Pumba. A short speech was delivered by K. Korakumong VCC. DTO Dr, Hedungkiebe gave health talks. The medical team was headed by deputy CMO, SMO, DTO, MOs of various health units, along with all programmers under CMO establishments.
