Along with increasing COVID-19 cases, rise in temperature in the last few days here has also forced people to keep indoors.

Nagaland’s commercial hub on Wednesday sizzled at 36 degree Celsius with a high humidity of 89 percent even as national capital New Delhi recorded 34 degree Celsius and 76 percent humidity in comparison.

Besides erratic power supply, Dimapur has been experiencing soaring temperatures and humidity for the past few days with sporadic and scanty rainfall, prompting fears of hotter months ahead.

While on Monday it recorded its highest temperature of the year at 38 degree Celsius, Tuesday witnessed 37 degrees. As per the weather forecast for the next week, temperature here would hover around the mid 30 degrees with intermittent spells of rain (40 to 80 percent precipitation) and no signs of respite from the prevailing heat wave.

Meanwhile, the hottest cities in the Northeast on Wednesday were Guwahati and Itanagar recording 37 degree Celsius. Agartala was a tad lower than Dimapur at 34 degree Celsius while Imphal and Aizawl enjoyed relatively better weather at 28 and 29 degree Celsius respectively during the day.

The Capital of Himalayan State Sikkim enjoyed the best weather at 25 degree Celsius.
