Heaviest spell of rain to hit NE

DIMAPUR, MAR 29 (NPN) | Publish Date: 3/29/2019 11:51:27 AM IST

Northeast India is all set to experience the heaviest spell of rain and thundershower activities from March 30 onwards.

According to Skymet Weather report, rains would commence in the region by the evening or night of March 30, gradually picking pace on March 31. The intensity would initially vary between light to moderate. However, as the time progresses, heavy showers would be observed in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Moreover, Arunachal Pradesh may see some snowfall activity at its upper reaches. From April 3 onwards, the intensity of rains will start declining, but scattered light rains may continue over Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura until April 4 or 5. The major reason for these rains can be attributed to the remnants of Western Disturbance which will reach Northeast India by March 30.
