Hojai-Habaipur double railway line to be inaugurated

After a long wait, union minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain will dedicate the Hojai-Habaipur double line at a function to be held at Hojai in Assam on Thursday.

Union minister of state for railways Gohain will also inaugurate the newly-constructed Hojai station at the same ceremonial function to held in Hojai on Thursday. Informing of this with an image of the station on its official Twitter handle, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) stated on Wednesday: “MoSR Rajen Gohain will inaugurate the newly constructed Hojai station at a ceremonial function tomorrow. He will also dedicate the Hojai – Habaipur Double line at the same function to be held at Hojai.”
Union minister Gohain will also inaugurate the Lanka railway station on Thursday. On its official Twitter handle, the NFR stated: “This is the facade of newly constructed Lanka railway station which will be inaugurated by Railway Minister of State Rajen Gohain at a ceremonial function tomorrow.”
Northeast Now published a news report on February 15, 2019 hinting the double railway track from Hojai to Lumding’s completion by March 31 as the construction work was going on in full swing.
The doubling of railway track, which has been a long-standing demand of the people, is expected to cut down travelling time and expenses.
The foundation stone for the project of double railway line of nearly 45 km, from Hojai to Lumding, was laid on September 12, 2016 by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and union minister Rajen Gohain.
The doubling of railway track is one of the many railway projects being undertaken by the authorities to improve railway infrastructure in the Northeast.
In the last few years, several railway projects have been sanctioned and introduced for the benefit of the people in various parts of Assam.
