Horticulture Advisor meets Union Minister

 Advisor for Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan met with the Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh at the latter’s residential office on July 27.

A press release from the advisor’s public relations secretary, Chumbemo M Patton stated that Yanthan was accompanied by the Horticulture principle secretary, M.K. Mero and the director of Horticulture and mission director MIDH, Dr. R. Elithung Lotha. The Union minister was apprised on ongoing developmental activities of the department under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). 
The Union Minister appreciated the performance of the department and also remarked that horticulture was one of the major income generating sectors for the entire North East region.
The advisor also requested for more support to develop the horticulture sector in Nagaland for doubling the farmers’ income in the state to which the minister gave his assurance that his ministry would extend all possible support and cooperation. The advisor also highlighted the activities of Central Institute of Horticulture and also the issues related to strengthening the institute’s man power. A letter on this subject from the chief minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio was also submitted to the Union Minister.
