HWCs inaugurated under Mon district

Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) of Jakphang, C/Chingnyu, Changlang, Longching, Apao, Mohung and Chenmoho HWC under Mon district was inaugurated by chief medical officer (CMO), Dy CMO, DVBO, DTO and DIO on November 16. 

A press release from NHM Mon district media officer, Leeyan Chemshy stated that, during the inauguration programme, Dr Kechongol Sophie CMO, Mon said, if the cleanliness and sanitation improves, communicable disease will drastically reduce and health of the people will dramatically improve and that the new generation will have a better future.  
He also announced that the state government has declared open defecation free (ODF) in Nagaland on October 2, 2018which was achieved one year ahead before the national target. He elucidated that the centre will provide screening on non communicable diseases (NCD) but he said that the beneficiaries should also contribute for their better health and support their service providers by giving up some risk factors such as smoking, tobacco chewing, alcohol abuse, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity. He requested all the village leaders present in the meeting to support and cooperate with the health staff to make the centre fully functional for the welfare of the village.
Dr. K. Limatula Ao, Dy CMO, Mon inaugurated Choaha Chingnyu and Apao HWC. She said that the HWC, a component under Ayushman Bharat, is done by upgrading existing sub-centres and primary health centres. She said that HWCs are envisaged to deliver range of services to address the primary health care needs of the entire population in the village. 
Inaugural programme for each HWC were held in their respective villages attended by CMO, Dy CMO, DIO (UIP&RCH), DVBO, DTO, BPMs along with all the village leaders, church leaders, youth leaders and women organisation.
