Ighanumi village council bans fishing and hunting

The Ighanumi Village Council (IVC) has informed villagers of Ighanumi and its neighbouring villages that any form of fishing with chemicals or batteries, hunting or burning jungles within its jurisdiction has been completely banned in order to maintain ecological balance in the area. 

In a press release, Vitoi Swu chairman of IVC, stated that the ban has come into force on March 5 and will remain so till further orders. A fine of rupees ten thousand will be imposed on any individual violating the order, the release added.
