Illegal drugs worth Rs 5 cr seized in Manipur

Illegal drugs including WY tablet worth Rs five crore in the international market were seized by Narcotics and Affairs Border (NAB) team of the Manipur police.
Four women alleged to be drug peddlers were also arrested during the drive conducted by the NAB team in Lilong area of Thoubal, a release of the Manipur police PRO said Tuesday.
The seized illegal drugs included 15,500 pieces of Pseudoephedrine tablets and ninety-eight thousand pieces of WY tablets. The Pseudoephedrine tablets were seized from the house of one Md Ramijuddin alias Rami while the WY tablets were seized from the residence of one Bibi Eisha.
During the drive, locality people turned violent and obstructed the police team from conducting the raids, said the PRO.
However, with reinforcement from Thoubal police, the cordon and search operation was conducted in the area and arrested the four women identified as Amina (45), Samim (35), Akebi (40) and Lalijan (35), the released added.
