Imkong headlines X1 Fight Night in Dimapur

The one-day Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting event, X-1.International fight night, organised by Khriemelie Metha, Mikato Sema, Nisuka Khulu and Akumchuba Jamir, was held successfully at Indoor Badminton Hall, DC Court Dimapur on October 5. 

Altogether, 24 fighters representing various gyms and academy from the North Eastern states of India took part in the one day event.    

In the first bout of the night, Gautam Mayong from the red corner defeated Tokho George in the Straw Weight category by unanimous decision with the judges scoring 30-27, 30-27 and 29-27. 

In bout six between Kekhrieneitso Angami and Samuel Lalthlamuana, the former ended the bout in 2 minutes and 46 seconds by means of TKO in the first round while in bout nine between Mairidin Newmai and VL Sangzela had to be stopped by the referee after the latter’s shoulder joint was dislocated by his opponent while pushing for a submission. 

In bout eight between Shantanu Boruah and Darren Kharshandy, the later won the fight with all the judges scoring 30-26. Darren from the red corner was saved by the bell in the first round. Had it not been for the bell, the match would have ended by TKO as Shantanu dominated the fight from the beginning, landing huge blows on the face of Darren. 

In the third bout of the Bantam Kickboxing category between Lobsang Cigano and Aboto Ayemi, the former dominated the first round landing huge blows on Aboto, and powering him to the corner. However, Aboto came back strong in the second and final round but was unable to assert his comeback, losing the bout with all the judges scoring 30-27, in favour of Lobsang Cigano, from the blue corner. 

In the co-main event of the night, was fought between Balajied Ryntathiang and Victor Angami, with the later winning the bout via TKO in the second round of the match. 

In bout 12 of the Feather Pro MMA category, the final main event of the night was witnessed between George Lalmuanawma and the first Naga Pro MMA fighter, Imkongsunep Jamir. Imkong dominated and controlled the fight in a technical manner and won the bout with the judges unanimously scoring in his favour.  

The titles were sponsored by Chabou & Co and Niathu Group, and the event was co-sponsored by Nagaland Minerals and Mines, Powercem, Aiko Water, Hotel Acacia and Isuzu.
