Nagaland NGOs Forum (NNF) has appealed to the state government to improve service delivery mechanism to combat the COVIID-19 pandemic and listed 12-point suggestion for consideration.

In a letter addressed to the state chief secretary, NNF president Dr. Hesheto Y Chishi and general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe said the forum, during the present crisis in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, stood in solidarity with the state government and honoured policies and guidelines issued for safety measures.

However, NNF sought to highlight certain underlining concerns that needed to be addressed and redress at the earliest.

Among other suggestions, the forum stressed that local authority bodies needed to be “oriented well” for better coordination and to refrain from issuing “self style orders” that created more panic amongst the people and disharmony.

NNF also suggested setting up of a public grievance cell through which concerns and guidelines could be updated.

Further, the forum said there was a need of standard mechanism to assess relief matter. It stated that lists of needy beneficiaries and distribution must be maintained transparently, which would ensure identifying most needy and reaching them essential commodities.

Besides, NNF also emphasised the need to explore consistent support mechanism and put it in place, adding that manipulations and corruption at grassroots must be prevented.
