Indigenous games at Siikriinye fest

Apart from cultural activities, the ongoing Siikriinye Mini Hornbill Festival 2019 at Phek Town witnessed series of indigenous games in the form of competition and demonstration.

Competitions on log cutting, bamboo pole climbing, grass belting, bamboo push, spot jump, tug-of-war, cart race, cane sliding etc were conducted among the colonies. 

On day three,  (January 17),   indigenous tool race, bamboo pole race, wrestling, traditional fire making, nettle shawl weaving, cotton spinning & grass raincoat braiding, earthen pot making and snail eating competition will be conducted.

Earlier, an adventure and outdoor activities were organized at Tizu river, Phek town.

The event was flagged off by deputy director, directorate of Tourism, Veyielo Doulo on January 15.  He expressed happiness on the introduction of boating and bamboo rafting competition and encouraged the PTYS to carry forward such adventure activities in the coming days.

In rafting competition, Hebron -1 colony bagged the first position while Mission Compound and New Colony finished in second and third positions.

The adventure activities will also featured ziplining and water zorbing and will continue till January 17.
