INP holds workshop on ‘wildlife census’

As part of the Wildlife Week celebrations, which is being observed from October 2 to 8, the Intanki National Park (INP) organised a one day workshop on October 3 in the conference hall of the Forest Office Complex, Dimapur . 

The workshop was held on the topic “Introduction to Wildlife Census” for the field staff of Intanki Armed Protection Force. 
Principal chief conservator of forests and head of forest force, Rajat Subhra Pal, who was the special guest of the inaugural function said that the foresters in the modern era were expected to play a more diverse role and not just that of protecting forests and wildlife. 
The inaugural function was chaired by the Director, Intanki National Park, Temjenyabang. 
Keynote address was delivered by the chief wildlife warden, Vedpal Singh, where he enunciated the need for wildlife census, different methodologies and also highlighted the significance of the Wildlife Week. Vote of thanks was delivered by the Wildlife Warden, Dimapur, Tokaho Kinimi. 
Altogether three technical sessions on GPS handling and techniques, elephant and tiger census were conducted with Swedehol Kikhi, Kenlum, range officer and Aron Yimchunger, range officer as the resource persons.
