Inspector among four cops held in drug haul case in Manipur

Manipur police have arrested four police  personnel including an inspector of the department for his allegedly involvement in smuggling of illegal drugs, a source said on Saturday.
The arrested personnel were;  inspector Letkhohao Vaiphei, the OC of Moreh police station of the border district of Tengnoupal, ASI T Poaminlun Haokip, head constable Md Khalilup and driver Luckson Kom.
They four have been suspended from their services by separate orders issued by the state DGP for the inspector and by Tengnoupal district SP for the remaining three personnel on Friday (November 14).
All the personnel were posted at Moreh police station and they were arrested by a team of Tengnoupal police on Friday and remanded to police custody after they were produced in a local court, the source said.
The source said that the four personnel were arrested as suspects during the course of investigation into the seizure of a huge quantity of contraband psychotropic substances from a house at Moreh ward no. 9 on November 12 last.
A team of Tengnoupal district police detected 34 cartoon boxes of ketamine injection P labelled as KETAMAX50 during a raid at the house on November 12 night, around 9 pm.
The boxes contained a total of 10,755 bottles Ketamine injection IP labelled as 30 ml Ketamine injection IP (50mg/ml) labelled as Ketamax50, a ban psychotropic substance.
During the course of investigation into the seizure of the contraband item, the police pointed out the four police personnel as suspects involved in the smuggling of the item, the source said.
Immediately after the arrest, state DGP issued an order suspending the inspector from his service while SP of Tengnoupal district police Th Vikramjit Singh issued the orders suspending the three personnel on the same day (November 14).
The four were suspended for grave misconduct and dereliction of duty in exercise of power confers under rule 66 Assam Police Manual part-III.
