Intensive study on ‘Lokayukta’

Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima conducted an intensive study and training on April 12 at ATI, Kohima as part of general topic on ‘Lokayukta’ for the NCS (EAC) probationers, 2019 batch. 

The resource person of the training was advocate and social activist, Kezhokhoto Savi. 

According to NVCO media cell, Savi in his presentation dwelt on corruption, Lokpal and Lokayukta Act. 

He said that the establishment of Lokayukta in the state was the demand of the people to eradicate corruption in the state. 

He also defined Lokayukta as an anti-corruption ombudsman organization in the Indian states and stated that the origin of Lokayukta can be traced back to the ombudsman in Scandinavian countries. The establishment of the institution of Lokayukta in the state was to provide clean, transparent, and accountable government of the people, he added. 

Savi remarked that the main objective of Lokayukta is to curb the menace of corruption within the state.
