Interaction on smart city project held for trainees of waste management

Kohima Smart City conducted a briefing and interaction on the smart city projects for the trainees of waste management organized by the Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) under “Green Skill Development Programme” on January 17 at the KSCDL office, sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. 

A press release from CEO smart city project stated that the smart city officials welcomed the trainees and presented slide show on the various upcoming and ongoing projects and the projects that were successfully completed. 

This was followed by a discussion hour where the trainees asked about the green and environment related projects and projects focused on waste management.  

Under the IT sector, one of the trainees opined that most of the government websites were not updated and contains with old images and write ups. It was requested that an active and up-to-date website is a must and whether the Kohima Smart City can work on such a website. 

The trainees were informed that under e-governance, the Kohima Smart City was working on Citizens Apps for information dissemination, grievances redressal system, incident management system and websites also for applications like online trade license registration and renewal, building bye laws, smart transport system, etc. Some trainees also requested to conduct seminars and trainings for educated unemployed youth. 

Altogether, 13 trainees who were all graduates and 5 NPCB officials attended the interaction. 

The training also included site visits to the solid waste management site at Lierie and the Septage Management Plant at Meriema with the Kohima Municipal Council besides other activities.
