Irony of RMSA schools performance and government treatment

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 5/13/2019 11:52:25 AM IST

Despite irregular payment and with a fixed amount the RMSA 2016 teachers were delivering their duties regularly with dedication and commitment. But the Govt. not only turning a deaf ear on the plea of the teachers issued the OM under coercion for reduction of salary which ultimately culminated to the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench as a resort for the teachers to demand for their rights. And in spite of the hue and cry of the teachers the Dept. released the reduced amount which was totally an insult to the teachers and the Hon’ble courts direction. The NRMSATA questions the credibility of the Govt. for looking down on the teachers and intentionally committing a blunder by releasing the reduced amount which was against the courts direction.

Inspite of the ongoing legal case against the Government of Nagaland for reducing the salary and demand for the post creation notification, the RMSA 2016 teacher’s have been working diligently and the result of which can be seen in the recently declared HSLC 2019 result.

According to the HSLC result 2019, the overall pass percent of Govt. schools in 2019 has increased by a margin of 2.5% as compared to the last year. The overall pass percentage of Govt. schools in 2019 is 43.32% which is more than the overall pass percentage of the last 10 years.

The Govt. schools result in 2016 dipped at the bottom with an overall pass percent of 32.81% which is prior to the engagement of RMSA subject teachers. After upgradation of Govt. schools, the RMSA subject teachers were appointed in 2016 and consequently the result increased by a margin of 9.79% from 32.81% in 2016 to 42.60% in 2017 overall for Govt. schools.

Out of the total of 14 Govt. schools securing 100% qualified/ pass percent, 8 are from RMSA upgraded schools. The RMSA schools securing 100% include 5 from Mokokchung district and 1 each from Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto district. Notably, GHS Longjang, GHS Unger and GHS Asükikha repeated the same feat as they secured 100% in 2018 from among the RMSA upgraded schools. Also, there were 6 RMSA upgraded schools securing 100% qualified in comparison to the students appeared in the examination viz. GHS Moava, GHS Jakhama, GHS Kandinu, GHS Khonoma, GHS Mezoma and GHS Pholary.

The NRMSATA 2016 central unit exudes confidence on the legal process and acknowledges the teachers for achieving such a feat. It may not be practical on the part of the teachers to continue on their duties without being paid for several months but the faith and hope on Judiciary are the only thing that the teachers can look up to for now. The association appreciates the efforts of the teachers and expressed confidence that Justice will be delivered. It is at the behest of the teachers to put more efforts and carry on their duties with sheer dedication and commitment towards educating the future masses in general and the students in particular.
