Is this political chicanery or meanness?

The JLF has convened a meeting of the stakeholders of the State of Nagaland on the 15th of October, 2020 at Kohima in connection with the imminent Naga political solution. However, when the JLF circulated the written invitation notice to the invitees, some of the major stakeholders, particularly, Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) and Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) are not invited as I confirmed it from those two organisations on 13.10.2020. It is learnt that the invitation was intimated to NGBF just over phone on 13.10.2020 at the last moment whereas the rest of the invitees were served written notice by 7.10.2020. Both the NTC and the NGBF have been playing the major role in facilitating the ongoing political negotiations between the GoI and the Nagas. Non-invitation of NTC and NGBF by JLF is intentional and not through oversight. How much can be the degree of damage that can be caused to the status and authority of JLF by extending invitation to NTC and NGNF as apprehended by the organisers? How many feathers are expected to be added to the cap of JLF by ignoring these two organisations? It is pathetic to observe that certain leaders are guided by meanness and parochial feelings very unbecoming of their official statures. Whereas, it is reliably learnt that Naga Hoho is officially invited to the proposed meeting though as of today, Naga Hoho is not a stakeholder of Nagaland. When the JLF has invited Naga Hoho which does not have foothold in Nagaland, how insolent is JLF to ignore the major indigenous stakeholders?

Meanwhile, as published by the local papers that NPF is boycotting the joint meeting of all stakeholders of Nagaland convened by JLF on 15.10.2020 at Kohima. There may be justification of NPF for pulling out from JLF. The general public do not give much importance to the wrangle between JLF and NPF as none is found having reacted to such less significant showdown in public media. What loggerhead of JLF and PAM does much matter to the ongoing political negotiations between the GoI and the Nagas for the fact that the disunity between the two hardly impacts anything.

Nevertheless, if the JLF and PAM are manned by sensible and responsible elected members who are the legitimate representatives of the people of Nagaland, they are expected to show their maturity, leadership and magnanimity at this crucial moment. They are supposed to set aside their differences which are secondary comparing to the political cause of the Nagas at this crucial juncture. It is neither my business nor am I interested to give much comment on the split of JLF and that JLF and PAM may remain as separate entities so long both feel it is good for them. Yet, at this very moment if at all the situation requires a united voice of the Nagas of Nagaland for early political solution, how dare any political party in Nagaland places its agenda superimposing the Naga political issue? Moreover, whatever JLF or PAM does is expected to be transparent and respectable unlike what PAM compelled the WC, NNPGs to hit the PAM’s bull’s eye as appeared in local papers dated 13.10.2020. Also, neither JLF nor PAM may use the ongoing political negotiations as the propeller of their party’s political agenda.
