JCPI meeting adopts resolutions

A meeting convened by Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration (JCPI) at Tourist Lodge Hotel Dimapur June 7, 2019 has decided to bring out a ‘White Paper’ on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in order to educate the grassroots on the burning issue. 

In a press release, JCPI convenor K Ghokheto Chophy and secretary Tia Longchar stated that the house also unanimously resolved to induct the presidents and the general secretaries of all the apex tribe hohos/bodies (Nagaland) into the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration as executive members.   
The house resolved that the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill should continue to be spearheaded by the Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration. 
Further, the house reaffirmed the resolutions adopted on May 18, 2019 by 12 tribe hohos, NTC, NGBF, NCD, CNTC, ENPUD, UNTABA, SN, ACAUT, Nagaland Garo Tribal Council, DDGBA, DUCCF, TUCT, CAKU, ASTD, WCH, LHD, DNSU, ASTUD, AYF, and DAYO.
The house appreciated the support of Dimapur District Village Council Chairman Association (DDVCCA) and requested it to send two representatives to the JCPI to further strengthen the body. 
The house also The meeting was attended by the presidents/GS/representatives of 12 tribe hohos/apex bodies, namely, Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Garo, Kachari, Kuki, Lotha, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi and Zeliang along with NTC, CNTC, UNTABA, DDGBA, DUCCF, CAKYO, ASTD, WCH, RPOD and DDVCCA.
