In view of coronavirus epidemic, Joint Committee for Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) has decided to reschedule its proposed rallies in district headquarters to April 17, 2020.

Informing this in a press note, JCPI media cell said the decision was taken during the meeting held on March 19 to discuss about eh expiry of the ultimatum served on the state government for the effective implementation of ILP and making December 1, 1963 as the single cut off year for both ILP and RIIN for the entire state.

Among several resolutions adopted, JCPI warned that if the state government failed to heed to the genuine demand of the indigenous people of the State, it would be compelled to launch a state-wide bandh on April 24, 2020 followed by non-cooperation movement till the genuine demands of the people were fulfilled.

JCPI also resolved to distribute (translate in all dialects) the white paper on RIIN to educate public on the importance of RIIN exercise and effective implementation of ILP and other special provisions in the state of Nagaland.

Further, JCPI appealed to all the apex tribal bodies “to be prepared to reach our common objective by extending every possible co-operation for the proposed protest rallies and subsequent bandh.”
