JD (U) to file lawsuit against ruling NDPP

Janata Dal (United) Nagaland has announced to file a lawsuit against Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) for failing to respond to its June 26 letter seeking clarification from the latter on its public claim of merger of the two parties. In a communiqué issued by its publicity & programme coordinator Mohammad Nisar on Friday, JD (U) Nagaland said a legal notice would be served through the party’s advocate within the shortest time. Alleging that there was total confusion within the top ranks of NDPP, JD (U) claimed that the ruling party’s president Chingwang Konyak clarified during a telephonic conversation that there was a minor mistake in the party’s press statement. But, on the other hand, NDPP secretary general Abu Metha, in a WhatsApp reply to JD (U) Nagaland general secretary Kitoho S Rotokha, stated that there was no merger document with the ruling party, the communiqué claimed, adding that it was compelled to file the lawsuit.

According to JD (U), the confusion of NDPP was a mockery of democracy, besides exposing its “deliberate and unethical action” and its total disregard to established principles in the functioning of a recognised political party.
The party alleged that NDPP had intentionally exhibited its selfish poaching tactics without any reservation and respect to the well-being of other political parties.  Interestingly, both JD (U) and NDPP are part of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance.
