John Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Viswema and Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) entered the semi-finals of the 3rd Kohima District Inter School Football Tournament 2019 at IG Stadium, here on Wednesday.

John GHSS captain Vichüto Phira scored five goals to lead his team to a thumping 8-0 victory over Government Higher Secondary School Tseminyu. 

Justin Malangmei opened the scoring for Viswema team in the early minute. 

Zayiese Sale added the second in the 3rd minute, Vilu Theyo and Phira added the third and fourth goals in the 13th and 33rd minutes. 

After the breather, Phira run riot as he scored four goals in the 51st, 53rd, 54th and 73rd minutes to finish the game. 

Vichüto Phira also became the highest goal scorer of the tournament with seven goals from three matches. 

In the semi-final, they will play either Mount Carmel HSS or St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS on July 13. In the other match, first edition champions Rüzhükhrie Higher Secondary School beat Baptist High Kohima 3-0. Mhaphruovituo opened the account with a stunning free kick in the 15th minute. Kevize-u scored the second goal from a close range in the 18th minute. 

The third goal was scored by Küvethi Swüro,  when he converted a spot kick in the 30th minute. Baptist High Kohima came back strongly after the break but could not  break the strong defense of Rüzhükhrie HSS.

They will now play Minister’s Hill Baptist HSS or Don Bosco HSS in the semifinal on July 13. On Wednesday, the match patron was joint director, School Education Mesetsozhü Wezah.
