July 12 murder: CAST stages silent protest

Ao Union Chumoukedima  (CAST) along with Ao mothers and students in Chumoukedima  and Jongpang Medem Zunga staged a silent protest at Chumoukedima  town Friday against the brutal murder of Tasenjungla allegedly by one Sanjay Lodh on July 12, 2019. 

It may be mentioned that Dimapur police have arrested the prime accused Lohd in connection with the murder of Tasenjungla, a 22-year-old girl, whose body was found floating at a water body near Green Timber Mill, Chumoukedima on July 12. Following today’s protest rally, the AUC submitted a memorandum to EAC Chumoukedima  to be forwarded to deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur. 

In a press release, CAST secretary K Wati Imchen said EAC assured to take up the matter seriously and all necessary action would be initiated on priority. In the memorandum, the union has demanded the authority not to grant bail to the accused, but fast-track the case and ensure that the perpetrator be awarded befitting punishment.

Meanwhile, the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) has also submitted a representation to the principal district & session judge Dimapur urging to refrain from entertaining of bail application of the accused.
