The golden jubilee celebration of Kamaleah Area Sports Association (KASA) got underway Tuesday at Lephori village, Phek with Dr. Andrew Ahoto, chairman of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School as special guest.

KASA was formed in 1968 and is one of the prominent sports bodies of the Pochury tribe covering six ranges, viz Lephori, Akhen, Kanjang, Matikhrü, Reguri and Mollen.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahoto called upon the people to shun all kinds of isms and work together for ushering in an era of unity and brotherhood through such events like sports. He highlighted the importance of sports events in bringing about peace and unity in the region and also called upon the younger generation to improve their skills rather than focusing only on bookish education.

Maj. Arpit, OC of 22 Assam Rifles, Akhen Post, who is also one of the patrons of KASA, also attended the inaugural programme.

The valedictory function on December 14 will be graced by Wetsope Krome, IPS, Inspector General of Police (ABn/NAP), Nagaland as the special guest.
