KBCM and WVI organizes seminar on child rights

KBBB Youth Students’ Ministry, Konyak Baptist Church Mon (KBCM) youth department in collaboration with Mon Area Program, World Vision India (WVI) organised a district level one-day seminar on Child Rights and POCSO Act for students of Mon town on September 22, at council hall, Mon town.

A press release from coordinator Development Facilitation, WVI, Temjen Sangtam stated that special guest Tuishimla, chairperson of Child Welfare Committee Mon urged the participants to be agents of child rights. She further urged the teachers to instil dignity, confidence and self-esteem in the children and to be careful not to abuse them. 

“You are representing the children of the entire community, so get the right message and take the community forward” urged Bangshing Konyak, president KBCM youth, who also challenged the participants to be responsible and educate other children.

“You are the cream of the society and empowering you to stand for your rights is what we wish to achieve as an organization,” said the program manager WVI, Dr. L. Khobung in his keynote speech, while CWC member Y. Nockyam Wangnao spoke on Child Rights and POCSO Act.

Shongmeth a class 8 student of sacred heart school challenged the participants with a slogan “One voice can save thousands of children”. 

The program was led by Manai Konyak, youth director KBCM, Phelem Naam Fellowship pastor KBCM pronounced the invocation. 

Nokong Konyak Students’ chaplain and Temjen Sangtam WVI were the program coordinators. Altogether 559 people from18 schools across Mon town attended the program.
