KCCI announces 10-day long night carnival

 Kohima Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) have announced the annual 10-day night carnival as part of the state Hornbill Festival with many additional events unlike other years starting from December 1-10. A stretch from Old MLA hostel junction till Razhü point junction from 5 to 9 p.m. 

This was announced during a press conference by KCCI president, Medozhatuo Rutsa also attended by night carnival convenor KCCI vice president, Ruokuoneilie Kesiezie, KCCI GS Akhrie-ü Mor, VP KCCI Thejasetuo Keretsü, secretary information & publicity Kaihrii Henry Chisüte and women coordinator, Kevibeinuo Mere held at KCCI office Kohima on Wednesday evening.

Kesieze said apart from the food stalls and local crafts promoting local entrepreneurs, this year’s edition would include entertainment and theme nights; the idea is to promote young up-coming local artist and talents, giving them a platform to showcase their talents. He said the concept is to offer wholesome family entertainment to every reveller.

KCCI highlighted the lined-up of the 10-day night carnival, on day-1, the inaugural will be graced with  prayer by pastor Ebenezer Baptist Church Kohima, day-2 will be followed by cultural night for which KCCI appealed every stall to put up traditional attire on that night and also requested every visitor to put at least one traditional attire. On day-3, inter-wards choral competition will be jointly organized by KCCI and KMC, on day-4, there will be karaoke night an open competition, day-5 whose got talent an open competition organized by KCCI and special appearance by Hungarian cultural troupe, day-6 junior’s night (14 years below) open competition, day-7 fitness night to create the awareness on health and fitness, on day- 8 Hornbill night carnival parade in collaboration with Tourism department, on day- 9 oldies night and day-10 the last day carnival night.

KCCI informed that night carnival would be plastic free and accessible to disabled persons with ramp to perform in the competition. KCCI appealed the shops and building owner within the night carnival stretch to decorate the shops and building, the best decorated would be awarded. On query, KCCI also informed that they have the format in checking the price during form submission and all the eateries stalls are directed to put up price menu to check the price. It was also informed that around 180 shops/stalls are allotted mostly local entrepreneurs. On security, KCCI would depute around 30 volunteers at the stretch of night carnival.
