KDTODU lodges complaint with DC Kma; places demands

Kohima District Truck Owners & Drivers’ Union (KDTODU) has lodged complaint with deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima against one Kozhol Kirha for declaring as “totally false” KDTODU’s listing of the illegal collection of cash at the check-gates and on highways. Recently, the KDTODU, while backing the PAC call for indefinite bandh, had listed illegal collection of cash at the check-gates and on highways by unions and government agencies in and around Kohima.

In a complaint letter addressed to DC Kohima, the KDTODU president Rüvese Sokha and secretary, Küvethi Puro have demanded setting up of a competent investigation team/enquiry committee to find out the truth so as to take “stringent actions” against Kirha within 15 days.

The union claimed that Kirha has even threatened to hold its president and secretary responsible in case of “any bad consequences” he faced in the future. Stating that it cannot tolerate the statement of Kirha against the union and its president and secretary in particular, KDTODU said his statement amounted to “life threatening”.

KDTODU said it has also resolved that Kirha would be held solely responsible in case of “any severe/bad consequences” happened to its president and secretary. Further, the union described Kirha’s statement as “misleading” and said that listing of illegal collection was the decision of the union and not just of its president and secretary.

Meanwhile, KDTODU has cautioned to take own course of against Kirha in the event of the district administration failing to respond to its demands.

KDTODU demands include complete end of all collection of cash at the check-gates and on highways and allow investigation team to thoroughly interrogate responsible unions and government agencies involved in illegal collection.
