Kevilekho wins Nagaland Chess Championship title

Kevilekho Zumvu emerged the champion of 17th Nagaland State Chess Championship, which concluded Friday at Red Cross conference hall, Kohima.
Sukhavi Achumi, Melesayi Dawhuo and Akhrietuo Kesieyie bagged the second, third and fourth positions respectively. 
The top four players under open category will represent the state at the forthcoming National Open Chess Championship.
In Under-17 category, Nipeto Hesso emerged as the champion while Suliki Awomi, Sedevituo Rio, Munu L. Yim, Heudiywanybe Meru and Kibeto Awomi bagged the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.
Intovi K. Awomi emerged the champion in Under-14 category. Shinikali Hesso, Kunvuto Awomi, Pulonoto Hesso, Neikezhazo Rio and Uzholu Nyekha took the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively. Nagaland Chess Association also acknowledged the youngest player of the tournament, Jitihto Nyekha (6 years).
NCA president P. Khezhie gave away the prizes to the winners.
The function was chaired by NCA treasurer Ropfiivilie Nagi while NCA general secretary Hekugha Yeputhomi delivered the welcome address.
Meanwhile, the new team of NCA for 2018-21 will be headed by Neiba Kronu, minister for planning & coordination and land revenue as president and Mughaho Awomi, and Visanyiizo Kuotsu as vice presidents. Hekugha Yeputhomi was named the honorary secretary, Vekukho Soho, Kevilekho Zumvu and Kiyaselie Mere as joint secretaries and Ropfiivilie Nagi as treasurer. The executive members include P. Khezhie, K. Sukhamo, Sukhavi Achumi, Sede Nagi and S.I. Toshi.
