Khehovi inaugurates DAY-NRLM Suruhuto block

Advisor Tourism and Art & Culture H.Khehovi on inaugurated the Suruhuto Block of Deendayal Antyodana Yojana under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) on Thursday.

Speaking at the programme to mark the inauguration, the advisor announced that the government of India had launched several schemes for poverty alleviation, youth empowerment and skill development to encourage the rural masses to let them earn and maintain their livelihood.

Khehovi lauded prime minister Narendra Modi for initiating such programmes and further showered praises on chief minister Neiphiu Rio for making these programmes reach the people at the grassroots.

The advisor said more of such schemes were coming up especially for people in rural area focussing on improving the economic conditions of rural people. He asked the department officials to follow Government guidelines to make the people self dependent and self sufficient.

Stressing on the participation of women in such programmes, the advisor asked the gathering to do away with the concept of womenfolk as “secondary” and instead asked women to venture out from kitchen chores and let gender equality prevail.

With the inauguration of the DAY-NRLM at Suruhuto, Khehovi appealed to the people of Suruhuto area to make use of this opportunity and avail the benefits offered by the government with sincerity, hardwork, honesty and diligence and compete with other Blocks in the state to earn laurels.

He also asked the department officials to work sincerely and help SHGs to make the mission successful.

Short speeches were delivered by S.Kitoho Sumi and Kahuto Awomi. S.Davis, BPM, BMMU Suruhuto spoke on the plan and strategy of CRP Round.
