Khriekesa FC, Twenty XI FC register wins

Khriekesa FC Meriema and Twenty XI FC won their respective matches to secure three points each in the ongoing Kohima Football League-2 at Kohima local ground on Thursday.     

In the first match, Khriekesa FC Meriema beat New Market FC 2-1. Vimelie Chasie of Khriekesa FC scored the first goal in the 28th minute. 

The first session ended 1-0 in favour of Khriekesa FC. After the breather, New Market scored the equalizer through Gideon Leo in the 52nd minute. Both sides stepped up their attack with numerous unsuccessful attempts. 

Then in the 71st minute, Vimelie Chasie rose on the occasion to score again to earn three points for Khriekesa FC.  

Earlier, Salu Kulim (14) of New Market missed a penalty in the 32nd minute. With this win Khriekesa FC Meriema was placed at 5th position on 16 points. New Market FC remained in third place. 

In the second match, Twenty XI FC Viswema beat Vanguard FC Tseminyu 2-1. 

For Twenty XI, the goal scorers were Metol Neikha in the 22nd minute and Viho Kin in the 69th minute. The lone goal of Vanguard FC came through the boot of captain, Yhunshalo Kemp through a penalty kick in the 73rd minute. Twenty XI FC remained in fourth place, with a match at hand on August 25.

It may be mentioned that Twenty XI FC Viswema are the only team participating in the league with full 18 local players without any loan players. 

The Kohima Football League-2 is organized by Kohima Town Club.
