KKTWWS Pfutsero celebrates golden jubilee

Khezha/ Kuzha Tephe Women Welfare Society (KKTWWS) celebrated its golden jubilee at Pfutsero Sports Complex on December 3 with minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu as special guest.

Kronu congratulated the KKTWWS for reaching the milestone and appreciated the pioneers for envisioning a noble venture 50 years ago to empower women of the area through skill training.

He challenged the members that this celebration should mark maturity and urged the women folk to move forward with promptness in executing its programmes and activities. On the other hand, the minister urged the men folk to respect and honour women as they play vital role in transforming the society.

He also challenged the women to step forward to take the lead role in the society without inferiority complex citing the instances of women leadership in international platforms.  Kronu also shared his vision to develop Pfutsrro area to become a model in the state by developing infrastructure and tourism industry. He reminded the gathering about the huge eco-tourism scope considering the rich bio-diversity and beautiful landscape.

He also shared about the project launched recently by the Entrepreneur Associates and reminded the people to make best use of the fruit tree which will be distributed to them. On the occasion, the minister also released the golden jubilee souvenir.

Earlier, Chakhesang Mothers Association president Zhonelu Tunyi congratulated the KKTWWS for achieving the milestone and acknowledged that KKTWWS was the first women organization to have made such achievement. 

Tunyi also appreciated the pioneers and the present team of office bearers for leading the society to this far.

Chairperson KKTWWS, Wepretsho-u Kupa delivered welcome address and the programme was led by Viekope-u Kenye. To mark the celebration mother’s beauty contest was conducted where participants were drawn from the KKTWWS village-wise who have completed 50 years of age. 

Kosono Chiezou from Khezhakeno villages was adjudged as the winner.

Neiwelhi-u Dianu from Pfutseromi Village and Wete-u Wetsah finished as first and second runners up.

Thousands of women from eight villages and sub-societies from Kohima,Dimapur and Phek attended the programme.
