Kuda Kewhimia Youth Organisation (KKYO) held its first general meeting at Diphupar Angami community hall, with Kezha Dzüvichü vice president Angami Baptist Church as the main speaker on September 8.

A press release from KKYO president Thejangulie and general secretary, Mhasibeituo Khezhie stated that while emphasizing on the importance of the preservation and practice of culture and practices, the speaker said that alien verbal communication had gradually surpassed the indigenous rich culture, the fundamental principle of “our” identity.  He lamented that adopting use of alien vocabulary either at home or work places by the younger generation would surely have a great miserable impact on the future. He further encouraged the youth to adopt the philosophy of “I can do” to meet the challenges ahead.

Kewhimia Union Kuda president James Vizo who also spoke on the occasion laid stress on the importance of participating in various activities. He said that the more opportunities that come, the youth must grab and use them. Vizo further called on the youth to not defile their bodies and quoted a scripture “our body is the temple of God” and as such one should live a disciplined and sincere life.

Khonuo Keretsü, advisor Kuda Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho (KKMK), called upon the youth to uphold the rich culture and tradition of peace and harmony towards one another. She also stated that tradition and culture depicted one’s identity, and she reminded them to preserve it.  The day long program witnessed games and entertainment besides a business hour.

Teresa Site chaired the function; Varülhou Rutsa invoked God’s blessings while Thengulie delivered a welcome and presidential address. Thejanuo Kite and Diphupar Kewhimia Youth presented a song. Vote of thanks was given by Keneiselie Zatsu.
