KLC conducts seminar on ‘Know your Rights’

Kohima Law College (KLC) conducted “Know your Rights & Entitlement” seminar at the auditorium of Mount Olive College (MOC), Kohima on August 21.

According to KLC, the seminar was conducted by, professor-in-charge Kezhokhoto Savi, where he deliberated on “Public Services Delivery System” based on the Right to Public Services Act. Savi said that this Act will make government officials accountable and help the government weed out corruption from the grassroots level to the top. 

The resource person also pointed out that Nagaland was yet to have this Act for which the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) had launched the Public Services Delivery campaign during the 2016 Vigilance Awareness Week. NVCO has also appealed to the state government to introduce similar legislation for effective public services delivery to its citizens in the state. 

Other topics such as Consumer Rights, National Food Security Act 2013, Street Vendors Act 2014, State Consumer Helpline Toll Free No. 1800-345-3701, Environment, Food Safety & Standard Act 2006, Human Rights & Lokayukta were presented by various resource persons including Hikavi H. Kimimi, Tzudipang Ao, Sangla Chang, Vizetuo Solo, Pulato Zhimomi and Nyimbemo Shitiri.
