The Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem celebrated its golden jubilee at Molu Ki, Kohima on April 4 under the theme ‘Mera Tasen Jangzü’ (Trumpet for a New Step).

A DIPR report stated that Limawati Ao, director of Information & Public Relations, said that before the technological age, soldiers in battlefields used trumpets or bugles to send signals and warnings to their fellow soldiers.  In the same way, a community also needs to listen and see to these signals and warnings as it moves along with the change of times. Limawati stated that human development began from prehistory where changes took place slowly but now in the data age, the internet has brought about vast and rapid developments.

Limawati, therefore called upon the KLST, saying that since it is now a mature union, it should retrospect on past mistakes and move along with the change of times not living in the past but talking about advancement, economic upliftment, tourism, education, marketing avenues, etc and be leaders and guides for villagers and the village.

T. Sashimongba Pongen, a pioneer of the union, recalled that the KLST was founded by eight elders on April 4, 1969. He called upon the KLST to walk in the footsteps of their forbearers with honesty, hard work and live in truth.

TN Mannen, IAS (Retd), in his exhortation advocated for punctuality, living with the times and using time properly. He called upon the KLST to be united with empathy, love and truth and move forward with new thoughts, visions and ideas and not live in the past.

Er. Tsuktinungsang, chief engineer, department of Water Resources, also exhorted the gathering

Short speeches were also delivered by Kohima Aor Telongjem president, Chiden Yaden; Kohima Asetkong Senso Telongjem president, Supongyanger Imsong; Dimapur Longjang Senso Telongjem president, Y. Among Jamir; Longjang Senso Telongjem Mokokchung president, I. Ali Aier; and Wailemba Jamir of Longjang Village Council.

A Golden Jubilee Souvenir was released by Phutoli L. Jamir during the function. A one minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect for the departed. The main highlight of the program included recitation of Jubilee poetry, cultural folk songs and special songs presentations.
