KMC to tackle traffic congestion in Kohima town

Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), which had a joint meeting with the Kohima traffic police and ward representatives on the matter relating to traffic congestion at Kohima town on May 14, 2019, has resolved to restrict parking on both sides of the road within the wards.

In a press release, KMC administrator Kovi Meyase said meeting also resolved to conduct of joint spot verification to identify single lane parking spaces in all wards.

Further, it was decided that joint enforcement drives would be conducted and defaulting vehicles towed away as per relevant Act(s).

Meyase stated that verification and enforcement drives would be jointly conducted by district administration, police, KMC and ward chairman/representatives.

Meanwhile, KMC has reminded public to clear all building materials and off road vehicles lying on the road as per the order issued by DC. 

Failure to comply would entail needful action as deemed fit and necessary, KMC stated.
